Ninth House

The Ninth House

The ninth house, dharma, means virtue. If we use the energy of the eighth house successfully, and are able to transform our pain into knowledge, we earn dharma, virtue. As the ninth house is the house of the soul, we have a longing to pursue higher knowledge and enrich our spiritual development. We may seek mentors, spiritual guides, and teachers, and travel on pilgrimages.  It relates to poorva punya, or good fortune, which attracts divine help. We are open to initiation into higher knowledge such as meditation, the reading of spiritual and mystical texts, and the practice of yoga. The energy of the ninth house is devoted to the full development of our soul nature, stressing such attributes as honesty, sincerity, generosity, conscientiousness, and integrity. As we proceed to the tenth house, we are able to communicate to others the higher knowledge gained in the house of dharma.
