The Seventh House

The seventh house, kalatra, means partner. As such, it relates to all partnerships including marriage, business and all long-term commitments. The term partner can also signify our inner partner, our other self at the subconscious level. Often it is the qualities of our subconscious self that draws us to our partner. If we are successful in understanding the qualities of our subconscious self, we will be more discriminating in our choice of partner as our whole being is involved in the decision. The seventh house relates to the position of the Sun at sunset. At this time, shadows are at their longest and easily seen. Therefore, in the seventh house, we are most able to embrace our shadow self—to reconnect with our subconscious partner, or to form a harmonious partnership in marriage or business. In the seventh house, then, the developing soul meets its mate and continues its evolution.
