The Three Levels of Consciousness Seen in the Hand

Within your palm, you can see the interplay of these three gunas or levels of consciousness.

The mounts (Luna, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Sun, Mercury, Rahu and Ketu) represent individualized fragments of the superconscious. The major lines (heart, head and life) correspond to our subconscious level of awareness. The minor lines (destiny, Sun, Mercury, etc.) represent our conscious ability to mine the richness of the hidden subconscious and superconscious energies within us.

If we think of the hand as a map of the mind, then the hills and valleys of the mounts are its terrain—the living soil of our superconscious. With any of us, some of these zones may be fertile and evenly formed, others depleted, and others even treacherous. Some may be too arid, and others too humid. Some may be in a state of change from one condition to another; others may have stayed as they are for eons.

The major and minor lines of the hands are then comparable to roadways—paths along which thought energy can course. Every line traverses a section of the palm with an origin and termination on specific mounts. The line’s quality, effectiveness, and the smoothness of the journey upon it are influenced by the nature of the land upon which it has been carved. A line that travels across well-developed mounts will yield better results than one that traverses negatively-developed ones.
